Color Lines

Black and white

Are not colors

But values or hues

According to the art world.

America’s world,

Black and white are races

So I’m running

Does that make me a racist?

Red, white, and blue

Are just colors

But many of us will die for those colors

Not just the soldiers

Never forget the gangbangers

The corner boy, the block huggers

The boy going home or your homeboy

Shells don’t discriminate.

Rainbows are beautiful

So why are they used to

Demean

Why not wave in support

Instead of target for hate?

My pot of gold

Is now a pot of sorrow

In this world that I hope to save by tomorrow.
